World of Goo

World of goo is for sure one of the best Wii games of the year. Its actualy the first Wii Ware game I've purchased.

The game at fist may seem short and shallow, but its not.

The game is a physics based puzzle game where you connect different types of goo balls to build structures to accomplish tasks and at the end of each level you try to have as many unused goo balls as possible. You actually need a certain number to finnish the level. Common challenges involve building a bridge or a tower to get across to the pipe that is the goal in each level. Sometimes you are required do something first like wake up a group of sleeping goos in order to have enough to reach the pipe.

The game also can have up to 4 players each with separate remotes playing at once in co-op mode. The game's only problem is actually that when you're doing this only player 1 can move the camera and so the rest of the players need to wait for them to move. It probably would have worked better with a Smash Bros. style camera that just zooms out to show all the players.

World of Goo also (sort of) has online multiplayer. After beating a few levels you will be told that the World of Goo Corporation is now open. By selecting this from the main menu you enter an empty area with all the extra goos that made it to the pipe in each level. You can replay levels and try to beat them with more goos to get more goos in this area. When in this mode, you try and build a tower and a cloud shows how high you have gotten, there are also other clouds that show you how high random people around the world are currently at.

Graphically World of Goo is easily the best looking Wii game this year (though it is 2D). Nearly all the graphics are vectors as well so the game even looks amazing on an HDTV or Monitor.

The game's sound is just as good if not better than the graphics. The tunes may not be that memorable, however the REALLY add quite a bit of life to the atmosphere of the game. This game is made of love and the music is no different.

If you haven't downloaded this yet do it right now. Even if the 1500 point price tag is putting you off, it would be well worth 5000 points. And if you've run out of space, deleate anything you need to because this game is just too good to pass up.

10/10
